The Trayvon Martin shooting has stirred up a lot of controversy around the country. One of those controversy’s has to do with hand guns and gun control in general. Currently only 3 states deny all citizens the right to carry a concealed (hidden) weapon on their body. The other 47 have varying laws which allow some people to carry a concealed hand gun on them with a certain permit.

Considering the Trayvon Martin case in which a young teenager was killed by a citizen carrying a hand gun, do you believe citizens should be allowed to carry a hand gun on them?
No, I don’t think that they should be aloud to carry a gun. That is way to risky because some people will take it the wrong way. So I don’t think we should be aloud too.
I think people should be able to carry hand guns around if they have a permit or something to have it and go to a class for it. If they kill or shoot anyone for no reason there should be major consequences and get their gun and permit taken away.
Citizens should be allowed to carry a firearm if they have a licence. A gun should only be used in self defense. There should be a few limitations for safety reasons, Getting a licence should be hard, involving mental exams and things to avoid another case like Trayvon Martin’s.

Yes, I do think that you should be able to carry a hand gun with you at all times. But I don’t think that everyone should be allowed to. But if we let people start walking around carrying guns, then there could be even more shootings. I’d understand if you are being attacked or somebody else is pointing a gun at you. I think this needs to stop because the US Government has made”self-defense” a good thing now, and i think the person who killed this teen killed him on purpose but he just used the word”self-defense” as a thing to cover everything up. i think it’s a bad idea to bring guns on your body when you walk. Trayvon Martin was a good man. I personally knew Trayvon and I called him Trey. Trey was just minding his own bidness until a fellow shot him down. Does putting a hoodie on make you a criminal? Trey didn’t steal anything or scare the man, he should be in jail. And that gets me to carrying a gun around. The person has the right to bare arms IN A HOME. I think they should be able to carry hand guns because they want to have protection. also they should not be able to carry one if they are not going to use it in the way they are spots to be used. also i think they should have an permit to carry a gun around.
I think people should be able to carry guns under certain conditions. By this, i don’t mean like only when it is raining, or only when its over 20 degrees, obviously. I think people need to go through a background check and certain other procedures. Now, this could already be in place. I wouldn’t know, as i don’t have a gun.
I think that citizens should not be allowed to carry any guns for their protection let alone a hand gun. Innocent people get hurt when so many people are carrying hand guns with them. If you walk in an office building and every person who works there is there but one has a hand gun a lot of those people could get hurt or killed. A simple hand gun could do a lot of damage.

I definitely think that citizens of the US should be aloud to carry hand guns. Permits and other restrictions help control how dangerous it is. Overall, it’s pretty safe. But, that gives the slight opportunity for the gun to get into the wrong hands, or be accidentally shot. The Trayvon Martin case is one example of what accidents could happen. It is dangerous, but not enough to eliminate carrying them around.

I think that people should be allowed to carry handguns. There are already laws in place that have set requirements for the ability to have a concealed weapons permit. If we were to stop people from having guns at all it would be unconstitutional and could not be done. I suppose you could make people do mental tests to see if they can handle having a gun with them. They could make them see a psychologist and complete personality tests. There is nothing to completely get rid of incidents like this. People should be allowed to carry guns in self defense and they should have a license with them at all times when carrying the gun. People under 18 shouldn’t be allowed to carry guns. Just because one person was carrying a gun doesn’t mean nobody else should be allowed to. Murders and normal people are different things. Regular people would use a gun only when needed and in an extreme situation, whereas murders would most likely use a gun to of course, murder someone. I don’t know if it was a murder or self defense, but it sounds like this guy really did use his gun to murder this kid.

The thing with a concealed weapons licences is that there are already so many limitations. I do think that as a citizen of the U.S and with the second amendment , you should be allowed to own a gun. However people in order to buy a handgun in Michigan must first obtain there hand gun permit. If they further want to carry a gun in public they MUST have a concealed weapons permit. I don’t think that any citizen should be allowed to carry a gun with them all the time. I think the laws that we have now regarding guns are about as good as we can do. We already have enough crime, why give more people the chance to act like that as well?
I think that people with their permits and licenses should be able to carry, only 21 and up can carry a weapon anyways so if they fell that it’s necessary to carry one they should have the rights.
There should be only a specific type of citizen that should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon on them. The reason why I think that is because people could make a very dumb mistake and shoot someone who they thought was attacking them, but really, they wouldn’t. I think that Arizona has acceptable laws for carrying a handgun. I don’t know if Michigan has the same laws. The only reason that this is in question is because people use gun recklessly. Certain people will use a deadly weapon to kill others, that is up to the person, not the weapon he/she chooses to use. I feel like guns are to easily accessible.

I think that it is fine to have a gun because of the Right to Bare Arms. I also believe that if people have a gun on them they should wear a t-shirt or something that says that they have a gun to warn other people. I think that citizens should have the right to carry a hidden weapon. Its like saying that we are not allowed to protect our selves at all. And making them illegal will just make for a greater sale of them on the black market. Which is bad for two reasons

Yes, to an extent. I think the stand your ground law should be revised but not completely eliminated. Protection is needed because no matter how much we want to sugar coat it, there are dangerous people, there will always be dangerous people. Yes, citizens of the United States should absolutely be able to own a gun. The second amendment in the Bill of Rights even states that citizens have the right to bare arms. Now that means they can own a gun and keep it in their house and stuff like that. Should just any citizen be able to carry a concealed pistol, or any gun of that matter? Definitely not. There are immature people, criminals, and people that just shouldn’t be carrying a gun on them. However, there already is a law that states that. You can not carry a concealed handgun without your Concealed Pistol License (CPL). I think things should just stay how they are. The right to bare arms but not to conceal a weapon. With that, things may get better. Also, if you hire a security guard or neighborhood watchmen, I think they should run multiple background checks, before handing them any sort of weapon for the job.

The Trayvon Martin case in which a young teenager was killed by a citizen carrying a hand gun has cause the press and many Americans to go hey wire. we should not assume that he did it in self-defense or that he was racist because we honestly just don’t know. I DO NOT think that citizens should be allowed to carry ANY type of weapon on their person because of this case. They shouldn’t be allowed to because what if some one feels threatened? they are going to use the weapon! what if the person that the weapon was used on was Innocent? it’s NOT fair! And one less guy on the streets that hurts people for a living is not a bad thing. I think that they should just have limitations on how you get a permit to carry a gun around. However if the person does take action on another person and shoots them they should not shoot to kill just to wound them until police arrive. Cases like this show that not anyone can be trusted with one, how do you know what the person will do with the gun? I definitely think that citizens of the US should be aloud to carry hand guns. Permits and other restrictions help control how dangerous it is. Overall, it’s pretty safe. But, that gives the slight opportunity for the gun to get into the wrong hands, or be accidentally shot. The Trayvon Martin case is one example of what accidents could happen. It is dangerous, but not enough to eliminate carrying them around.

I think that people should be allowed to carry handguns. There are already laws in place that have set requirements for the ability to have a concealed weapons permit. If we were to stop people from having guns at all it would be unconstitutional and could not be done. I suppose you could make people do mental tests to see if they can handle having a gun with them. They could make them see a psychologist and complete personality tests. There is nothing to completely get rid of incidents like this. Just because one person was carrying a gun doesn’t mean nobody else should be allowed to. Murders and normal people are different things. Regular people would use a gun only when needed and in an extreme situation, whereas murders would most likely use a gun to of course, murder someone. I don’t know if it was a murder or self defense, but it sounds like this guy really did use his gun to murder this kid.

I think that citizens should be able to have a hand gun as long as a person has a concealed weapons licence and can prove that they have one. The thing with a concealed weapons licences is that there are already so many limitations. People need to be able to protect themselves and a lot people with hand guns don’t just go out and shoot people.
I believe that people that live in bad neighborhoods should be able to carry a gun. But they need a background check to see their criminal records, and to see if they are affiliated with any gangs. Plus they would need to have a licence renewed every six months with another background check.

I do think that as a citizen of the U.S and with the second amendment , you should be allowed to own a gun. However people in order to buy a handgun in Michigan must first obtain there hand gun permit. If they further want to carry a gun in public they MUST have a concealed weapons permit. I think that Arizona has acceptable laws for carrying a handgun. I don’t know if Michigan has the same laws. The only reason that this is in question is because people use gun recklessly. This is a tough situation to make a decision on which side I would support, but I’d say yes, citizens should be able to. I say this because each U.S. has the right to bare arms, otherwise meaning, you should be able to defend yourself when you feel threatened. But a reason why I think U.S. citizens shouldn’t be able to carry a legal (hidden) gun on them is because some citizens can use them for the wrong reasons, or people can misfire them, and plus it’s can be a safety issue for many people.
I think that it is fine to have a gun because of the Right to Bare Arms. I also believe that if people have a gun on them they should wear a t-shirt or something that says that they have a gun to warn other people. I think that we would be much safer if citizens couldn’t carry a gun or weapon around. Most people wouldn’t use it against someone but there is always a case. I also think that the he should have limitations. He abused the right to carry a weapon and i think he shouldn’t be allowed.

I do believe that any US citizen should be able to carry a side arm as long as people can see it if it is concealed they should still have to take a class and if they commit a crime using such a weapon the police should be able to take the weapon as evidence. I think that the basic laws should be in place still for crimes in which that person(s) comite should not be able to own any kind of gun. And if the case of Trayvon there are still two sides to the story. It is also important to keep yourself safe and you cant do that if you don’t have a concealed weapon. I think if you have a licence and the gun is licensed and in your name you should be able to carry it. I also think that if you feel threatened you find someone safe or somewhere safe to go before firing but if there is no way MAKE sure YOUR NOT in danger then fire. In all honestly, regardless of how “reb” your trying to feel, the US would be a safer place without people having concealed weapons. But the problem with that is that a law is not going to stop the kind of person who would point blank murder some one with a concealed weapon from doing so. And making them illegal will just make for a greater sale of them on the black market. Which is bad for two reasons
A: A person that obviously is a criminal because he illegally came into possession of a weapon has a device that can be used to kill people

Absolutely YES! As of right now you have to be 26 to qualify for a concealed weapons permit, That also means you need to take a test to get it. Having ownership of such a permit means you must carry it 24/7 when being armed. You can not take it into places such as schools and Hospitals. I think that anyone who has a permit for a licensed concealed weapon should be able to carry a handgun on their person. I think that the legal law for getting the permit to own the weapon should be a lot stricter. I DO NOT think that citizens should be allowed to carry ANY type of weapon on their person because of this case. They shouldn’t be allowed to because what if some one feels threatened? they are going to use the weapon! what if the person that the weapon was used on was Innocent? it’s NOT fair! No, I don’t think any citizen should be able to carry a hand gun, or any gun at all outside of one used for hunting. Cases like this show that not anyone can be trusted with one, how do you know what the person will do with the gun? The only people allowed to carry guns should be trained professionals such as police officers.

I think that there should be and limitation the reason is that I bet that kid was just walking down the road and that man that shot him thought he was a dangerous person when he wasn’t. That man should have gave it time to see were he went. There should be a law or A new rule saying that they should wait and see what the person does before he/she kills the other person.
I think that people with certain permits should only be able to carry hand guns. Like a police officer or certain ranks of the military. Or other people that have to deal with dangerous people.
yes i think that people should be aloud to carry hand guns. They should only be able to use them if they are being attacked by some one that has a hand gun or other type of weapon with the intent to do bodily harm.
I think its perfectly fine to carry a hang gun for self defense but as long there’s some rule’s like you can’t take in any public places restrooms stores and you can only use when you are being attacked those are the only rules that i would have.

Yes a citizen should be allowed to carry a gun on them it is a right as a human. But they should have limitations first they need to go to classes for the gun and learn about it for a time period. They should have to carry a permit with them at all time and learn how to use the gun in a safe manner in order to keep the rest of the people safe.

I think people should be allowed to carry a hand gun around. But the only way they can is if they a have a special permit. Also if they use it inappropriately they should be faced with hard consequences.
i think a citizen should be able to carry a handgun on them. i would think they would have to go through alot of safety training and gun management training but i think they could have one. yes, there should be some limitations. you can only use it if you are in extreme danger and cant do anything else. and they must have it in a holster and gun must always be on safety just in case something happens

I think people with a certain permit should be allowed to carry a gun, but the permit should be a harder thing to get. Police would need to look in their criminal records and see if the person has done anything wrong. There should be another permit for hunting that requires the same testing. In this case, the neighborhood watch man should not have been carrying a gun, that’s an overkill for just watching ordinary people and children.

Yes I believe people should be allowed to carry handguns on them its in the constitution. Their should be some limitations to carry a gun in some places. But not having at a school should be a limitation and not carrying it into stores.
i think that people should be able to carry a hand gun if they are 18 years old. because if someone jumps them or that person gets attacked by a animal they can use that gun as self defense.
I think they should not be allowed to carry not just a hand gun but any kind of gun. also after the shooting this is an issue that should be taken into affect right away. the only people who should have guns are the military and police force. never just a neighborhood watch there was plenty of ways he could have stopped him without shooting him if he was actually attacked.
I don’t think people should be allowed to carry weapons. The chance of you getting robbed or attacked is already low and the fact that if you carry a gun you feel the need to use it, which can end up killing someone whether there innocent or not.

i think that it would be a good idea for people to Carrie hand guns for safety, but it depends in what areas, because if it is in rural areas, then it might not be such a good idea. the limitations would be like to keep it holstered until u think that u might be in trouble.
No people should not be able to carry a hand gun. Look at what happened! a 17 year old kid was shot. the shooter called it “self defense”. I doubt a random 17 year old kid was carrying a weapon around. I hope that the shooter is found guilty because i could not imagine dying at 17. he has barely even lived life, and he was killed.

I don’t think citizens should be allowed to carry a deadly weapon like a gun with them where ever they go. If they don’t feel safe where they live they should either move or so something about it. I think most crimes that are committed are with guns that are registered. I think it’s just more temptation to allow guns like giving a little kid some candy and telling them not to eat it. I think only people like police officers should be allowed to carry concealed weapons.

I do not agree with you. I think that people should be allowed to hold a concealed weapon on them, because you need protection. If it wasn’t legal bad people would do it anyways, then what? the good people they go after don’t have protection. Peace.
I think they should if they have the right to and have there CCW perment. Now if they feel in danger in any way yes they cam use it. Now in this case we don’t know what happen but we know that the kid was shot and killed so i think that there will be a big investigation in the death of this child.

No, I do not believe that citizens should be able to carry a hand gun with them. A possible outcome is increased tension with another person, and something dangerous occurring. A gun is a hazardous weapon that should not have the ability to be concealed. It is dangerous to those around the carrier.
I think people should be able to carry guns. I think that if people get licensed to carry a gun and they know hoe to properly use it they should be able to carry them. Also there should be limitations on where you can carry it. What happened to Trayvon was terrible and they guy who shot him was told not to do anything, he ended up shooting the unarmed Trayvon.

it deepens on the person if the person has a record for a salt with a deadly weapon they should not have on and if they are mental challenged they should not have one. but if some with a hand gun was raped or kidnapped and they are afraid to do any thing because of what happened to them no one thinks that they could use the help of a hand gun. so when some one wants to register for a gun they should have their finger prints taken and have a mental exam to see if they could handle a gun in their lives
