Today is the due date for people to file their federal income taxes. These are taxes levied by the federal (national) government on the amount of money a person earns each year. Our federal income tax is said to be a progressive tax, meaning the more money you make, the higher a percent of tax you pay. The current tax rates are 0%, 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%, 33%, and the highest is 35%.

No I don’t think that people should be taxed at all for the money they make, I think that richer people shouldn’t be taxed more just because they make more money.I also think that people who make more money should at least find a way to donate money to the government or the community,

I think that the government should be able to tax the income because the money comes back around to you in different ways. The money also helps other people and it is second to only the people in the army do. It also works like the golden rule “do on to others as you want done to you” because of other people do this then your money comes back like ten fold in different ways of course.
Even though they MAY not have the right, paying taxes helps us all in the end. I do believe that there should be a difference between the amounts of taxes Americans have to pay. But, there should only be higher taxes for the Americans with the very highest earnings.

2) I think that people should just be taxed on a standard tax percentage so that the higher-paying people will be taxed more and people that have a lower pay will be paying less.
No, because it is our own earned money and its not6 fair for them to take it away from us. No a person should not be taxed more for making more money, they should have to pay the same amount as everyone else. This would be the only fair way i feel.

I do think that the government has the right to tax the income a person makes. I think this because everyone relies on things the government does, and it takes money to fund those things and the taxes help pay for them. I think that people who make more money should be taxed slightly more then people who do not make as much money. I do not agree with this, but then again I would have to because without the tax money being taken out there would not be any income for the schools or doctors or health cares or military. It is a hard decision but I’d still have to say I do not agree with this specifically because it’s cutting out the hard earned money of the tax payers which many of whom have families to pay for.

Yes, if they make more money than the average person then they surely should get taxed more for their amount. Otherwise it wouldn’t be fair due to the payments being more than that of the people being paid minimum wadge.

Yes, I think that the government should have the power to tax their people for the federal services they offer. I would like someone to pay me if I did something for them, yes it isn’t necessary for me to be paid if it is just a small favor but if it is something that I commit my life to I’d like to get something more in return than a pat on the back. Well seeing that the taxes are to power the federal government and state government I feel the only reason you would have to be charged extra was if you actually used these resources extensively and more than the average person. I think they should be able to tax our income, but i think that they are taxing us too much. I am not sure exactly how much we get taxed, but if we lose like $1000 per month due to taxes, i feel that is too much. For number two, i do think that should tax the rich more than us. Raising how much they already pay, though, i do not agree with. The fact that we keep raising taxes is causing the lack of jobs, because the rich people, who, in fact, START businesses, think to themselves, “Hmm, i guess it would be cheaper to start these jobs in China, as i wont be taxed so much there.” If we lower taxes on rich people, (keep in mind the taxes are already very high on them,) then jobs may be created. I dont mean lower it to what we pay, but dont make it outrageously high.

Although I also think that people with more money, and that earn more, should pay more taxes because it is only fair to the rest of society that everyone pays the same tax percent based upon their annual income, and how much they can afford. It is not fair that a person who is poor and a person who is rich, to pay the same amount because they can/ cant afford the same payments.
I think that although they may be a pain, taxes are necessary in order for our protection and education. Without paying taxes, our military would collapse along with our public education programs. What I don’t agree with, is the fact that people with more money are forced to pay a higher percentage of tax. It is not fair for those who work really hard to make a lot of money because they have to give more of it away than those who don’t work as hard and earn less money. It also doesn’t help with encouraging work ethic because some people figure that if they work hard they’ll just be taxed more.

I think that when you are a citizen of a country, you need to give up some of your freedoms in return for services like police and fireman. Like it or not, society could not function without the government getting a portion of our money. I also think that it only makes sense to have the rich get taxed at a higher rate. I do not believe the government should have the right to tax people. The government wastes what it gets in taxes. The government is supposed to just be an oversight not a vault of our hard earned money. Also I think the rich should be taxed the same as everyone else because they worked hard to get there they shouldn’t be taxed more because they were successful.

I do not believe that a person should be taxed higher if they have a higher income. I believe this because everybody has the equal opportunity to earn money in their lifetime. Everybody goes to school and gets an education, whether or not you take advantage education you are given determines whether you can get into a nice college to get a good job or not. The income a person makes was EARNED by someone, so they should not be taxed higher for something they earned.
I think the government does have a right to collect income taxes because the government needs the money to fund things like defense, construction projects, and other projects. I do not think the government should be able to tax people who make more money because they still pay more money than poorer people, so they shouldn’t pay more than others. With 1/2 of all workers paying no income tax, the government would make more money in taxes with a flat tax. Simplifying the tax code would also result in more money, because there would be less loopholes in the system for people to avoid taxes.
The government has the right to tax peoples income because it is a way for them to have tax there people, but not over tax the poor. I do believe that taxes should get progressively high if you make more money. If they make more money, they can afford more taxes. They also can afford lawyers to find every loop hole to have them pay less taxes.

I do not think it is fair to tax people on the money they earn. The people worked for the money, and the government had nothing to do with it. Why should the people have to give some of it away? In my mind, the idea of income taxes is the like a friend saying, “Hey give me 10% of your earnings this year because you need to. We are friends and I stick up for you so you owe me some of the money that you worked for and I had nothing to do with.” It is crazy. If they do make you pay taxes, I feel that people should not be taxed more if they make more money. If they are making more money, they are probably working harder, so there is no reason to take more.

Since I don’t pay taxes yet, I have no clear idea on what I think of it, but if our founding father’s found it unconstitutional before, and the only reasons taxes came to be, was because of warfare, I’d say it’s not right to charge us because we’re able to make money, and they’re not. Taxing more heavily on richer people would make THEM mad though, saying just because they have “worked harder” to earn their money, it doesn’t mean the government should tax them more. There’s a big stale mate on this matter, and it needs to end. We need to get down to more serious matters. Like, the end of the world.

I think that the government shouldn’t tax U.S citizens on their earnings. I believe that the people should be contributing to the government as it is a democracy which is a government run by the people and needs them to pay for it. I don’t think that the rich should be taxed more, however, I believe that everybody should be taxed the same. If you tax the rich more you’re just going to have more people trying to cheat on their taxes each year.
I think they should not tax our earnings because some people work 2 or 3 different jobs to earn money for their family and taxes are not helping because they are losing money. Also that is ruining their family’s income which could cause them to starve or become homeless. They basically work hard and then get money taken away.

For example, if someone makes minimum wage, and then their income is taxed, they will actually be making less; and how are people supposed to live of that little amount of money? While yes, taxes are needed and are very important, income taxes do not seem right. You’re making people pay for the right to earn money. There are other ways to tax people, and this seems the least fair. A more wealthy person could be taxed more, but not so much they run dry. They can afford to pay more taxes, so go ahead and make them, but don’t go overboard. They earned their money, too.
